We are all part of the scenery.
At HLA, we believe landscape is not something done to places, but rather is the places themselves. The places in which we live, work and play.

Why Headland Landscape Architecture?

Quick Overview
Headland Landscape Architecture, LLC is led by Guy Headland, RLA, LEED AP. Guy has twelve years of experience working on sites ranging widely in scale and complexity. His focus has always been on designs that respond to native landscapes and natural systems while maintaining a core belief in the primacy of concept. In the past three years alone HLA has been involved in six projects that are being built to meet L.E.E.D. standards or have already achieved Certification. We are always searching for clients who are interested in Low-Impact Development to demonstrate that new developments can maintain and sometimes improve existing hydrology. All while enhancing ecological diversity and creating an image reflective of indigenous landscape. Your landscape. Whether your project involves restoring a native prairie, new building construction, master planning a college campus or designing bike trails we would love to be part of your team. -
Philosophy
At HLA, we strive to offer conscientious, meticulously processed design solutions. And we look to the landscape itself for those solutions. Landscape architecture is about more than just plants. In fact, plants are just one component of a landscape and one of many tools to shape or fit a defined piece of land for human activity within a landscape context. Our goal is to be active participants in every kind of building project providing meaningful insight, guidance and assistance to owners, architects, engineers and other professionals so that the end results are not just functional or even aesthetic, but that they also respect natural systems of hydrology and ecology while weaving the site into the fabric of community and allowing for unique expressions of art and design. Every building or land planning project affects the landscape. And every project should have a landscape architect. -
